Office glass partitions divide space while keeping it bright and open. For a fit-out in Dubai, the main choices are frameless or framed systems, single or double glazing, and how much sound control and privacy each room needs. This guide explains those choices so you can brief your partition supplier clearly.

Frameless, framed or ultra-slim?
Frameless partitions
Frameless partitions use glass panels joined with minimal fixings and slim top and bottom channels. They give the cleanest, most open look and suit reception areas, walkways and executive offices.
Framed partitions
Framed systems hold the glass in visible aluminium profiles. The frame adds structure, can carry doors and blinds more easily, and can help with acoustic sealing.
Ultra-slim and telescopic systems
Ultra-slim aluminium profiles sit between the two: a visible frame, but very narrow. Telescopic partitions use panels that slide and stack to one side, so a room can be opened up when needed.
Sound control: what to ask for
Glass partitions do not automatically give privacy for conversations. Sound passes through the glass, the joints, the door and any gaps at the ceiling and floor. When you brief a supplier:
- Ask for an acoustic rating for the whole system, not just the glass. The door and seals often decide the result.
- Consider double glazing or laminated acoustic glass for meeting rooms and private offices.
- Check what happens above the ceiling. If the partition stops at a false ceiling, sound can travel over it.
- Specify door seals, including a drop seal at the bottom.
Ask your supplier what acoustic performance their system has been tested to, and confirm it in writing for each room type.
Safety and manifestation
Large areas of clear glass in a busy office can be hard to see. Manifestation (visible markings, bands or graphics on the glass at eye level) helps people notice the glass. It is also a good place for your branding. Partition glass should be safety glass; laminated glass is a common choice because it stays in place if it breaks.
Privacy on demand
For rooms that need privacy only some of the time, there are three common approaches:
- Frosted or patterned film on part of the glass
- Integrated blinds between double-glazed panes
- Smart glass that switches from clear to private at the press of a button
Doors in partitions
Partition doors can be hinged, pivot or sliding, framed or frameless. Sliding doors save space in corridors; pivot and hinged doors seal better for acoustic rooms. Decide on handles, locks and access control early, as they affect the door hardware and glass preparation.
Comparing the main options
| Point | Frameless | Framed | Telescopic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Look | Most open, minimal metal | Visible aluminium profiles | Slim frames, panels stack away |
| Sound control | Depends on joints and door | Easier to seal well | Lower when open |
| Flexibility | Fixed layout | Fixed layout | Room can open fully |
| Best for | Receptions, walkways, open-plan zones | Meeting rooms, private offices | Training rooms, flexible spaces |
Fit-out timing
Partitions are usually installed after ceilings and floors are finished but before final decoration. Agree with your fit-out contractor when the site will be ready, where services such as sockets and data points will run, and whether the building management needs approval drawings. Measuring on site once ceilings are in gives the most accurate panels.
What affects the price
- Total length and height of partitioning
- Frameless, framed or telescopic system
- Glass type: single, double, laminated, acoustic or smart
- Number and type of doors, locks and access control
- Manifestation, films and blinds
- Site access, working hours and building requirements
We confirm these on your quotation after reviewing your layout.
Frequently asked questions
Are glass partitions soundproof?
No partition is completely soundproof. Performance depends on the glass, joints, doors and ceiling detail. Specify acoustic performance for each room.
Can glass partitions be moved later?
Many systems can be taken down and reused, but panels are cut to size, so a new layout may need new glass.
How long does installation take?
It depends on the size of the office and the system. We give a programme with your quotation.
Do you work in Abu Dhabi?
Yes. We supply and install partitions across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
